250 Christmas Gifts Distributed to Harvest

Thanks to volunteers from Ecole Notre Dame, BuildOn and Cornerstone Academy for helping Harvest distribute 250 Christmas gifts and food on Christmas Eve. Keep Harvest in mind for your end-of-year giving. The need is growing and we have no federal support this coming year unlike past years.

Need Volunteers Christmas Eve

Extra hands are needed this Saturday, Christmas Eve, to hand out groceries as well as presents. Every year, a generous neighbor buys and wraps presents to hand out to each client. Show up at 6.30 am to lend a hand.

Thank you Claire Lilienthal Alternative School!

Harvest pantry presents clients with hand-made Christmas cards created by second graders at Claire Lilienthal Alternative School. A big shout out to the 2nd graders for the wonderful cards.

Dec 17 – Santa Helpers Needed

Santa needs lots of helpers Saturday, Dec. 17 for Harvest Pantry. We’re receiving four tons of food instead of the normal two tons at 6:30 a.m. and we’re picking up Christmas gifts for the following week after we do the distribution. Just show up. For more info contact harvest@stjohnssf.org.

Wanted Hygiene Items

On Thursday, December 15th, Curry Senior Center and Project Open Hand will be hosting a Holiday Party for over 300 clients. The party will feature a traditional holiday meal and gift bag for each senior who attends.

Donations needed are:

  • Toothpaste and toothbrushes
  • Soap
  • Shampoo
  • Deodorant
  • Razors and Shaving Cream
  • Socks
  • T-shirts
  • Rain Ponchos
  • Towels

If you travel and have collected unopened toiletries from hotels, please donate them. Bring them to St. John’s on December 4 and 11.

Need Christmas Gift Ideas?

Tired of giving materialistic gifts?

Can’t figure out what to give a teacher?

Neighbor?

Carpool buddy?

Consider supporting a local family through Harvest giving.

This Christmas, sponsor a family for

one week ($1.25),

one month ($5),

one year ($65),

or any amount that you feel comfortable giving.

Give the gift of giving and we’ll provide cards for you to use telling people that a gift has been made in their honor to the St. John’s Harvest program.

Your gift is fully tax deductible and 100% will be used to support Harvest.

Look for the Harvest table at church starting December 4 or contact Evelyn Ho (compassion@stjohnssf.org) if you are interested in giving.

Harvest Closed

Harvest will be closed on November 26, December 24 and December 31.
